Today I stopped in at a pub in Stamford, Connecticut named Tigin. Let me tell you right off the bat, this is no Bennigan's.
Guinness on tap? Sure. Harp? Yep. Bass? Boddington's? Stella Artois? Yes, Yes, Yes!
The Friday happy hour crowd was lively and friendly, not too boisterous, and there was plenty of room for people to gather. The bar is broken into what appear to be several mini-pubs, each of which has a different feel, but all cozy. The decor was, while clearly artificial, believable.
I was lucky enough to run into a friendly bartender who offered me pints from both the front and back taps (and there are multple Guinness taps at each bar). All were fresh, nicely drawn, with a foamy head and great flavor.
I personally found the Guinness from the front bar (waitress station - high turnover) a little fresher, with less aftertaste. But the back bar Guinness was rich with head, creamy and delicious. Thicker than the front. Just a slight bitterness to it, though, which was not present in my other pint. Perhaps it had to do with the longer lines feeding the front bar, or keg turnover, I can't say.
What I can say is that I will be back to try the mid-bar's Guinness tap. Oh yeah, did I mention there was a tap I didn\'t draw from? And they've earned a sample of the food, which I didn't get to try. This place is a must visit!
